Both the Cog museum and the Museum of Foteviken offer guiding outside school activities.
At the Cog museum in Malmö harbour is “Malmöya”, a medieval realm. The history here revolves around two cog replicas in full scale. These impressive wooden ships are one of the most significant symbols of Malmö’s important medieval history. The Germans, when they created the trade union Hansa in the 1100s, introduced the cog ships to the Baltic Sea.
At the Viking reserve of Foteviken, in Höllviken, you can visit the exciting history of Vikings as it were 900 years ago. Here you will find the world’s only attempt to reconstruct a smaller Viking town. The 1100s was a very exciting time, a breaking point between old and new. The Viking reserve of Foteviken is built at the place of a big battle in June 1134, and also a place that before 970 was dedicated to the Aesir gods.
